Hello again, Summer Learning partners!

Hello again, Summer Learning partners!

We continue to monitor the legislative session for news about summer learning funds.

We know you are planning and preparing for summer programming!  One helpful resource that will become increasingly important to understand is the Summer Learning Guide from ODE.  Here are some highlights from the guide:

    • Starting on page 15, there is a section about purposeful planning.  Whether you have run summer programs for a long time or are just beginning, this section provides considerations for the basics of planning that will help you thoroughly and thoughtfully plan.
    • Starting on page 19 are considerations for access and inclusion. Central to the work of access and inclusion is staff expectations for students–often, the experiences of summer programming participants are made better when a volunteer or staff member expresses belief, hope, and support for children and their families.
    • Starting on page 29 are State and Federal funding streams to support summer learning.  While the guide was created in 2021, there are still active funding streams named and linked in the guide.

Also, we thought you should know about the upcoming “Expanding Afterschool and Summer Experiences Virtual Town Hall” on April 11.  Please click the link for more information–we’d love to see you there!

We will continue to offer updates here as we have information to share.

Happy planning!
